Summary

Experience Earth from Above. 21-22 is a research-driven immersive project that examines the Anthropocene through aerial imagery, spatial installations, and real-world 360 VR capture. In its second exploration, 21-22 examines the United States as a major environmental actor of the Anthropocene, documenting the coexistence of geological deep time and accelerated human transformation. From the desert expanses of Arizona and Utah to the sacred territories of Native Nations, the work observes enduring relationships to land amid mounting environmental pressures. Iconic New York’s dense urban fabric, Los Angeles’s vast suburban sprawl and highway networks, and the oil fields of Texas—reflecting the United States’ position among the world’s leading oil producers—reveal interconnected systems of habitation, mobility, and extraction. Louisiana’s climate-exposed coastlines, fire-affected communities, and California’s large-scale solar installations further point to cycles of vulnerability and emerging energy infrastructures shaping future landscapes.
