Jan Kounen

Director

A French director, producer, and screenwriter of Dutch origin, Jan Kounen graduated from the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. In 1997, he directed his first feature film, Dobermann, starring Vincent Cassel and Monica Bellucci. This was followed by Blueberry (2004) as well as documentaries inspired by his travels in South America and his discovery of shamanism. In 2007, he directed 99 Francs, an adaptation of the book by Frédéric Beigbeder, starring Jean Dujardin and Jocelyn Quivrin. In 2009, he directed Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, which was screened at the closing ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival that same year. In 2019, Jan Kounen presented three virtual reality projects.
